At Beanstalk Child Psychology, we believe in providing the highest standard behaviour reduction service to families. This means working as efficiently as possible using the most current and effective research. Just like our early intervention service, our positive behaviour support service is evidence-based – we use only interventions based on the principles of applied behaviour analysis.
In working with children, behaviour reduction includes the preventive methods, or antecedent interventions as they are known, that should be undertaken to prompt the right behaviour before something triggers the unwanted behaviour. We also work hard to replace problem behaviour with more functional communication, or with behaviours that are incompatible with the unwanted behaviour. We do this through the science of applied behaviour analysis, or ABA therapy as it is commonly known.
Here at Beanstalk Adelaide, we provide the parents and teachers with an ABC behaviour diary, in which they can record certain events/incidents that might help in the identification and analysis of problem behaviour. Examples of behaviour we commonly reduce in this service include:
- Reduce tantrums
- Increase compliance to simple instructions
- Reduce aggressive behaviour such as hitting or biting others
- Reduce self-injurious behaviour such as head-banging, self-biting, skin picking,
Furthermore, the Psychology team at Beanstalk AU ensure that your child is equipped with necessary tools, alternative responses and communication to lead happy lives (and a happy family too!). Our team adopts a hands-on approach to behaviour reduction – we come to your house, the shops, Grandma’s house . . . wherever the problem behaviour is occurring. Book in today!
